Sandro Botticelli
Sandro Botticelli(Italian, 1445 - 1510)

Sandro Botticelli created some of the most recognizable images of the Italian Renaissance. Known for their grace and lyrical movement, his paintings feature flowing contours, elegant figures, and a poetic emotional tone. He brought together classical mythology and Christian subjects, giving refined beauty a sense of mystery and softness.

He developed this unique vision mainly in Florence. There, he trained under Fra Filippo Lippi and became deeply connected with the powerful Medici circle. His career unfolded during a rich period of intellectual life, when artists looked back to ancient Greece and Rome while developing new forms of painting.

Later in life, as the mood in Florence changed, Botticelli's art became more somber and religious. He died in 1510, leaving behind a legacy that defines the golden age of Florentine art.
