Theo Van Rysselberghe
Théo van Rysselberghe(Belgian, 1862 - 1926)

Théo van Rysselberghe brought color, light, and modern design into a refined form of Neo-Impressionism. His portraits, landscapes, and coastal scenes often feel carefully structured yet full of brightness, atmosphere, and quiet human presence.

Born in Ghent, he became one of the leading Belgian artists connected with Neo-Impressionism and the avant-garde group Les XX. After encountering the work of Seurat and Signac, he adopted Pointillist technique, using small touches of color to build light, form, and visual rhythm.

His art remains appealing because it balances experiment with elegance. Van Rysselberghe’s paintings are modern without feeling cold, turning family scenes, gardens, harbors, and portraits into images of clarity, harmony, and luminous calm.
